What is Social Security Disability (SSD) and who is eligible?
Social Security Disability Insurance, also known as Title 2 or SSDI, is a government program which allows an applicant to tap into his/her retirement benefits should they become permanently disabled. Anyone who has worked 40 quarters, or 10 years, is eligible to apply given they meet the administrations disability standards.
What is Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and who is eligible?
Supplemental Security Income, also known as Title 16 or SSI, is a government program offered to low income earners who do not currently have enough work credits to apply for a title 2 claim. A claimant may apply for benefits given they meet the administrations disability standards.
Children with no work history, who are deemed disabled, are also eligible to apply.
What will my non-attorney charge for their service?
Your non-attorney representative will charge 25% of past due benefits, which may not exceed more than $9,200.00.
Is a non-attorney representative able to represent me in front of a Law Judge?
Yes, absolutely.
What is the 2025 COLA (cost of living adjustment) increase?
Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits will increase 2.5 percent in 2025.
The 2.5 percent cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) will begin with benefits payable to SSDI beneficiaries in January 2025. Increased payments to SSI beneficiaries will begin on December 31, 2024.
